{ He says he is 3 & a 1/4 & a 1/2 }
He will be four in November ;)
Here is what a typical school day might look like on the test schedule below for Mr.. Preschool!
Last spring when we brought the kids home I realized I had a challenge in the preschool department of
“ ABBEY ACADEMY “
I had planned…( even last year ) to hold our Mr...Preschool back a year from kindergarten in traditional school- because he is our true” baby “ personality !!
Sweet and tender to the core happy as happy can be… but really emotional and super sensitive….these boys need to be home until they are emotionally ready to learn!
He is too old to nap and …a boy …so he likes to be busy !
I started hunting for things to keep him busy with- while I did “quiet school” in the afternoons with the three big kids- and I came across TWO of the most amazing life savers !!!
The first one is www.filefolderfun.com
Where I got a TON of free games for all my kiddos to use!
I made each of the kids “activity walls” with the games though rather than file folders b/c they can go to do the activities while I am helping an older kid move to their next work box.
Here is his preschool / kindergarten wall in our school room.
THE second was the most amazing preschool program created by a home school mom of four…. who thus knows the challenges of keeping younger kids occupied … She is Confessions of a Home Schooler
*** I have to say she NAILED it with her letter of the week Curricula!
This is the BEST preschool 3 &4 program to keep a home school sibling INDEPENDANTLY busy and ….. learning!Especially a boy !…well this boy!!
I cannot wait until the twins are trained for next September to sit and do these activities!
Her program is all hands on stuff for my boy who does not have the maturity to sit for long amounts of time at 3 yrs. old… but it keeps him busy and now he is ..6 months later- working at a kindergarten level……but still not ready to do work books.
So….for this year… I am hoping we can repeat the preschool program again for the fall - to keep him busy -with just the lower case letters this round (even though he knows them all )… and then we will look at starting him on The Bob Jones kindergarten things in the winter once he turns four…..I hope?!
Today is lower case A-a as in apple !
We start with HIS calendar wall on the little kids half of the school room…
( **Most of these printables on our walls are from the preschool “Letter of the Week “curricula.
The Calendar things I used here on his preschool wall are from another fantastic!… creative …saved me so much time by sharing her stuff …homeschooling mom of three @
TO START OUR PRESCHOOL TIME
….we put up our lower case letter of the day….
…..We sing the favorite preschool songs for weather while we put it up…. { he insisted he heard thunder outside and that it needed two today….:)
Months of the year- singing away while we put it up
days of the week still singing….
100 days of school countdown ( no song for this one)
Weather graphing
Color of the day ….to match the A - a apples!
Learning about O’clock and the hands on a clock
Pointing at the words as he says them for his memory verse ( From www.biblestoryprintables.com )
..today…. tomorrow ….yesterday
Counting by two’s
(these are from bible story printables as well)
And filling in the numbers on his own calendar (mom helps do this still ) and he spells the letters of the month out loud as he points to them.
Then ! He starts his work boxes and the real fun = “ learning ” begins!
It looks like a lot but he moves pretty fast through these now !
He uses the www.suepatrickworkboxsystem.com as well, with numbered boxes ..…I put his work in the night before and when he is done a box he matches that completed boxes number to the chart on the side of his work box tower.
Number one bucket - is his full first middle and last name….He puts the letters in their proper order.
Then #2 is apple matching Aa’s
Size sorting
Puzzles
Counting the number of seeds and matching up the number
All while laying and rolling on the floor ( as boys love to do :)
Then onto laminated printing practice sheets…
And number ones
and alphabet ones

He listens to his big sister read her reader from her curricula www.bobjonesuniversitypress.com and looks for sight words in her reader that he knows.
“ hey mom I found “t-h-i-s ”
Then the two of them have some activity time together
here they are using huge push pins to poke the paper with in the shape of A a
Then they do the scavenger hunt of the day
ape- apple- ant -arithmetic- art and Miss Grade ones last minute addition ..she is soo smart -ark! Noah’s Ark

From the book series “MY FIRST STEPS TO READING” by www.groilerbooks.com
With his biggest- big sis ! These two have such a special bond! They call themselves the “b.m.a.s” b/c their initials are the same:)
Then free time outside ….if it is nice ..( not today ! ) then dinner and special book time with mom while the twins have their bath……
Oh big surprise ~it’s the tickle monster book again by Josie Bissett!!! ( got it at Indigo books)
