To warm up those fingers she did her daily charts- weather and tooth graphing and her daily calendar sheet in bucket number #1.
* 10:30 *
Then onto bucket number #2 for her journal and printing practice…..She wrote about her birthday being in 19 days and added her present wish list~ he he :)

Then we went over her “goals”in bucket #3, that mommy and daddy made up for her to work on…things like staying in bed after she has been tucked in and keeping those things to tell us about in the morning ~OH the girl can talk!!! ~he he… on that note there is also a not chatting until your done all your school work….putting your nose down and getting to work.. ..listening to your big sister and brother …ect

My only two “blondies” xo
She was finishing up her second reader today. The story was called What Is It? ~here is a little snippet :)

Here are some of the pictures she took …
Not bad hugh !
Wednesday ~September ~ 8th
After calendar time today. I switched things up a bit and had her read Mr.Preschool his letter of the day book.
Instead of journal today Miss Grade 1 wrote to her pen pal …..she got her FIRST letter in the mailbox yesterday from the Snowden’s house in California !
Here is her return letter ready to go!
She licked it shut before I even had a chance to snap a picture of it !
For Spelling she did her pre- test yesterday, so today is practice day.
Here is what we do to practice her weekly list words. The Bob Jones spelling that we use has 10 per week.
( these are sticker letters we made and stuck on wooden disks they are used for MR.Preschools curricula from Confessions Of a Homeschooler but they work great here too ! )
or this way with our Leap Frog letters she has to convert the letters from capital to lower case as she writes them out.
For math we started a new chapter in which she has already master the skills.
So we are also going to do some extra work on Canadian money with this book-
( b/c the Bob Jones curricula is American )
She is still getting a little stuck going from a dime to a counting by 5’s with a nickel is fine but then adding the pennies is where she is getting stuck!…. for 3 pennies to make 18 c for example..
We are starting our Canada study today …..
So we added O’Canada to calendar time even though she knows it from watching hockey here and the Olympics!
We talked about symbols and how to recognize our flag as a Canadian symbol.
Talked about the map and the Oceans
I cut up this poster and we will put the provinces back one by one as we learn about them.
Starting with ours!
Can’t forget about the capital cities !
and color matching up the ledged to the flags of each province.
Along with our map we are using this book for our Canada Unit study from S&S .
Then onto ART..C is for coloring Canada’s flag!
And C is for caterpillars :) (in MR.Preschools curricula )
Oh how they love the bingo dabbing art !
Then these guys and their “soo soft blankies” appeared !
Quick snack ….little run around the yard and it was time to finish with her reading for the day in her Bob Jones Reader.
I was so impressed with the contents of the story today!
“ Marta’s Blessing “ was about a little girl who confessed to her mom that she had been selfish and that being a blessing was more fun in the end ! AMEN to that message!
Then she finished her work sheets
And now it is her turn to go for a walk around the neighborhood and mail her pen-pal letter
with her big sister ….and a buddy ….so I can write all this !
The girls… their baby buggies ….and a tot !
* Thursday September 9 th
A big box arrived at our door today! ….that is always exciting!
Thanks to her pen -pal letter from yesterday!! She knew where to look for who had sent the box to us….she is showing Mr.Preschool too!
It was from Math U See
First she listened to the skip counting cd for a bit
Then my Lego building children made a tower with the math manipulatives !
and she drew and cut out a wolf !! ….To blow it over !
Then she got busy on some math sheets…with her big bro and sis:)
Then we moved onto our Canada map and put up the new Coat of Arms symbol
and a new province .. I told her she learned to crawl in Alberta ……she was shocked that she had ever been there:)
We talked about the Ocean and the name of the part we live by The Pacific Ocean.
Used the “clue “ to match up the flag for Alberta
And talked about the legend and the symbols on the map and found them.
We also did a craft from stArt = a story plus art
( over at ~ A Mommy’s Adventures )
We read Chicka Chicka 123 and counted to 100 for the little boys to hear :)
Then moved onto the craft
Snipping the trunk
Tracing her hand
Snipping it out
Stamping out the numbers ..this was great practice using the individual number stamps!
Then gluing on the little apples ( from Confessions of a Homeschooler letter of the week “A” )
AND ! Chicka Chicka 123 lookey lookey AN APPLE TREE! ( kind of )
* Friday September 10th *
OK after a long night of reviewing MATH U SEE –which I love !!! I am feeling really good that I made Friday’s our “lighter “ day as I have just added HOURS of prep work to my life.
Today we did some “get familiar with the math manipulatives” games they suggest.
Then Journal Time ~ in our crafty journal we made:)
Today we started skipping lines ….. half way through when I reminded her …… she was not happy about that !
And the next thing on the list was to introduce SPACE Man!!
She loved that!
We also started a printing practice book to do in the journal bucket b/c all of a sudden she has started to write her g and a backwards ?
Then we moved onto spelling practice and her Unit 8 final test -she got 10 /10!
Then onto Science for the week Unit 2 Sun Moon & Stars
We blended in some crafts too from Home School Share for her Science journal.
This big moon moves around to show the different shadows on the moon.
Lots of sun crafts !
Tracing her hands
Happily chatting away while cutting them out
“ He’s got the whole world in his hands”
Good time to move onto Canada!
new symbol of the Canadian Goose
Saskatchewan on the map puzzle
Finding the flag.
Then Math was adding with number lines…
which she was pretty bored with- and it’s Friday ….
so I motivated her to get it done…….
…….by sneaking a reward beside her ………
(and then waiting there with camera in hand to see her face when she saw it … I have this camera on my neck all day now!)
waiting …waiting
OH!
GOT IT !!!!
and she did too …...YUM !
She is off for a much needed walk with her big sis and a buddy and then it’s Piano lesson time ……with the best piano teacher in the world Miss Hannah!
Showing off her twinkle twinkle little star song!
So proud ! It is moments like this that I am so glad I have this thing around my neck all day!
Her piano book.
AHHHH yes it’s Friday !
* Saturday September 11th *
Swimming Lessons start today !
That was pretty exciting!
Our little fishy……she is very confident in the water !
Such a patient teacher :) She talked the whole class ..just a bubbling over!
SHE LOVED IT ! She wore this smile the whole class!
*Monday September 13*
Today during Calendar Time she had some good questions about words in O ‘Canada and their meanings. We talked about “standing on guard for thee” we talked about war and world war 1 & 2 and heaven !
We put up a new clock on the calendar time to practice writing out times I give her each day.
For the Canada map puzzle we put up
Manitoba and Ontario and the symbol of the Ottawa parliament buildings. We talked about the big bosses for each province and our prime minister. We talked about Hudson Bay and a bit on trading…she just wants to fit all the puzzle pieces into place NOW:)
For Math we practiced our new Math U See way of counting on our black board with their real names and their nick names.
and we used the manipulatives to do some math equations –SHE WHIPPED THROUGH THEM when she got the
“same as a ten” bar example-----I really like this math program !
Then we played a quick money game to review (she is getting the transfer form 5 to 1s now) and then we made some more different times on our play clock so I could see where she was at for our new math chapter this week on time.
For spelling we started ch 9 _ I love seeing the first tests and how she sounds the words out :)
For her journal she did a great job using space man and skipping lines..so I even put in proper ways to spell her wrong words today ( I wasn’t sure how she would do with at but it went ok ) Every entry at the end says it was fun so I am gonna have to challenge her to use another describing word for that each day :)
And she did two pages in her printing book working on her a and g the right way
* Tuesday September 14 *
Today she did her calendar time on her own ! ….to surprise me b/c one of our tots was not feeling well )
She even did her new clock on her own!
Then wrote her journal entry
“ I just did my calendar by myself my mom loved it ! It wasn’t a lot of fun but it was a little fun :)
Put up Quebec and said “Bonjour”
Found their flag
and she chose this symbol to put up today
The R.C.M.P
Then our baby got sick and we all took care of him!
Little Miss grade one is a wonderful nurse! and a great teacher to Mr.Preschool !
Oh the L.O.V.E !
She also made him a “quarantine “ fort from the rest of the kids..and stayed in there to take care of him..
She then ( all but two pages!!!! ) finished her math and calendar unit for the entire week….. ( while I was busy with the tot ) she just kept going and going !
WOW !
* Wednesday September 15th we took off as a much needed sick day… dad is out of town this week and mom was up al night with the tot and his yucky fever *
* Thursday September 16th *
We started our day off with a walk today to get some medicine at the store..I have been wondering if that would be a good way to start our day especially for the boys and their need to MOVE!…I have decided though that it just takes too long by the time we ALL got home it was lunch time and it took too long to get back on routine. I was left feeling like we had wasted time it is better knowing our school things are done first …I am going to try laps around the backyard instead first thing with the kids next week and flight of stairs if it is raining out ?
Cutest journal entry today !
It says …I wunder why God made the werld? If he was bord i rile want to no why he did .
Weekly spelling list practice
Practice test she got 9/10
Finishing up her second story in Reading this week. It had the characters names as Mike and Brent in the story. ( daddy and an uncles name ) she liked that.
She looked so big to me today sitting at her desk working away! ….Must be knowing she is about to enter another year…
Love those pig tales with ribbon !
Canada review of the provinces names and capitals
Found the flag…
New symbol up…..talked about the Hudson Bay and THE BAY Company and how they traded beaver furs.
And because she finished her math on Tuesday and we did all her phonics yesterday we were able to move onto…
Craft time~ coloring
Cut and Paste she said she is getting tired of these preschool crafts I'm just keeping her busy doing this art until our I can do all things art curricula arrives!
Now she is off for a bike ride to the school park with her big sister and a tot for her daily 30 mins of required exercise.
I am amazed at how she has gotten back into her school routine and at the amount of work she gets done each day … and so happily!
Next week I am going to try and only do one of the main subjects .i.e..math / phonics / or reading along with her daily things and see how that goes ?
* Friday September 17 TH *
Was an easy day due to the amount of work she finished this week ( AND I am so thankful for that! I am not sleeping with all our little boys being sick !! )
We did our calendar time and journal. She wrote about her piano teacher
Did her spelling final test on Unit 9 she got 8/10
many got her ..and when
I noticed that she put up a new province…I don’t know when she did that :)
AND ~ we finished our Science unit on Roots,Trunks, and Leaves.
It just so happened to be her birthday date on Sat – so we went for a small hike to find some roots stems leaves and trunks in Stanley Park.
CAN YOU FIND HER!
She noticed these beautiful raindrops and asked me to take a picture of them
A little tree on top of a older” nurse” tree. Dad was showing her the roots that had grown form way up the top into the ground to get water
So tall…soo small:)
Inside the trunk!
Rubbing crayons over the leaves we collected to make imprints of them in her science journal.
Wednesday * October 6th
We are finally back on track ! My word !
