After Calendar time in English and Spanish.
We started the day off with a cute New Years Resolution craft from Around the Kampfire.
It says “Find something to be better at.”
He wrote “Man Up” -aka.. not cry unless he is really really hurt :)
A goal to do over the year.
She wrote ….after detailed coloring! Do a better job listening to her big sister.
Something someone commits to do with a firm decision.
He wrote choosing to think positive.
Then we started a new coloring map of the United States from 1+1+1=1.
Today we looked for Arizona and colored it in.
Our Character Quality of the Week from Crossroads of Character is Compassion.
We read the story of David and Jonathan's son Mephibosheth.
Our book this week for Five in A Row literature is
KATY and the BIG SNOW
With this book, we will be making a big paper map of where Katy plowed on her snowy day.
The little boys loved me reading it to them.
Today we talked about personification and we went over all the human characteristics that the author and illustrator gave Katy.
Mr.Kindergarten Is learning about “Decimal Street” in his Math- U -See lessons where he is doing place value with ones tens and hundreds, as well as now learning to add with groups of tens.
I have added this new sheet to his daily calendar work book too.
He is also going to be learning skip counting by 10’s now that he has a good handle on his 2’s.
Miss Grade 3 Did some wonderful watercolor paintings over the weekend for us.
Especially the one of our Solar System that we are going to start learning about !
Wednesday January 9 2013
We found the Sate of California and Oregon and Washington over the last two days.
Mr. Kindergarten really absorbed the idea of counting by 10s today. I l.o.v.e Math- U- See and how it teaches Place Value !!
Miss Grade 3 started a novel study from Bob Jones called These Are My People.
Her activity was to do a resume.
The main idea in this chapter is that we are to seek the Lord in what He is calling us to do with our lives. We also read about Florence Nightingale in our character studies today where we are focusing on compassion for the week.Though Florence was from a wealthy family she felt the lord was calling her to be a nurse in Crimea to help the British soldiers.
