Week of March 4th 2013

We have started our Solar System Unit !
 

Step one
…Get Organized and decorate the learning wall

Step two
…prepare all paper… booklets, charts, and photocopying galore … took almost  an entire day!

I love this little booklet we made from Eagles Wings, Considering God’s Creation.


It is on the front of their booklet covers now.

For each planet we learn about, the kids have these “Solar System Detective “ Sheets to fill out.
They will need to research the information needed from the many Solar System books we have.
 



Here, they were cutting out the planets and then gluing them  onto the correct orbit :)and after making stars…. they completed the “twinkle” with glitter glue :)


OK !!! So we have the basic idea down !
The Sun is in the middle and all the planets orbit around the Sun. Phew!
{ Each week we learn about a planet we will color it, and write one favorite thing about it inside }

Step three
…Day 1 Make >Paper Mache< Solar System with homeschool friends ~The Smiths.
After much silliness with balloons…..

they pushed up those sleeves  and got ready for the muck!
 


Step four
…Day 2 >Paint < Paper Mache Solar System with friends~ The Smiths.


AND ! because our wonderful friends ~ The Smiths~ are moving to another province this month, we are now the new owners of one very unique paper mache Solar System !
