Mr.Grade 1
…..starts out his school day singing with his brothers ...and his Mom.
and then on to Calendar time
We count the numbers in Spanish as we put them up
We clap out the months of the year- sing the days of the week song…
and say the “30 Days Has September “ poem that he learnt last year as well as his new memory poem.
He is working on this one right now
This is his work box tower where he has a bucket for each subject
Here is his little school corner.
Number one bucket holds his calendar notebook.
He has a worksheet to choose from each day on the left
and his "writing" calendar on the right
This little guy is really independent and loves a challenge!
He also really likes to color
He is a lefty naturally but I tried to switch him in preschool and now he is ambidextrous!
He has a plastic pocket at the front of the binder with numbered animals to put in order -counting by two’s
The next sheet in his binder works on recognizing the days of the week words, time, temperature, and number order
He uses the numbers lined up on his desk to check to make sure he is printing his numbers the right way
In a drawer in his desk along with his calendar numbers, he has theses little charts to match the number word to the date
I set the clock at a different time each day for him to copy. We start with our clue “Littlest Abbeys First “ to help him to remember to write the small hands number first
And new this year we are working on the “other”
O’ clock = 9:00 & Half Past = 9:30 with PIRATES "arr"
Once he figures out which one it is- he writes it it the box
Then we take a peek out the window to find the temperature of the day for him to copy in his workbook.
At this point the boy is ready to stretch - to the piano he goes to practice his songs of the week
Then out for a run with his wiggly brothers
This little guy can really run FAST !
Then he comes to document his laps
-He beat his record from last week!
Then it is snack time!
Where we all do a review of our planet ,
Our Continent, the Equator, the Poles and the Oceans
